Bilateral Relations

The Bilateral relations Between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Azerbaijan were established on December 28, 1991, when Jordan recognized the independence of Azerbaijan immediately after Azerbaijan declared its independence. The embassy of Jordan was opened in Baku on May 1, 2007, while the embassy of Azerbaijan was opened in Amman on July 10, 2006.

The relations between the two countries are distinguished. It is based on historical, religious, and cultural ties, and the fraternal friendship between His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, and His Excellency the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

The political positions of the two countries regarding regional and international issues are very similar. In addition, there is cooperation and coordination between the two countries especially in and international organizations.


Many official visits were conducted at the level of leaders between the two countries, the most recent of which was the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to Baku in December 2019.
